playing detective
being the youngest in the family, with a 7- year gap between me and my brother who came before me, i would either play by myself or with a male cousin who visits us once in a blue moon. my toys consist of voltron, voltes-v, robots and matchboxes. i didnt play with barbie or dolls. in fact, i approximately had a total of five dolls in my lifetime. i still have two of them: Alf, given by my daddy, and a bunny (a gift from my sister). the barbie became a victim of my eldest brother's wrath -- he disemboweled her after having a huge fight with me -- while the other two was given to charity.
my favorite games were playing detective, car chasing, cooking whatever condiments i get my hands on, and of course, wrestling and karate . i would run around the house with play money and laser guns, climb mountains and cross rivers (more like climb windows and beds and cabinets), ride my makeshift car with stereo and gadgets. yes, i used to have a creative mind as a child, if only my mom encouraged me to it.
i remember clearly how i would create that makeshift car. i would carefully tuck the blanket on the upper deck of double-decked bed, like a curtain covering all sides. my car seat is made of pillows of all sorts of sizes and shapes. at the sides, i would carefully put my radio, and on the other side of the car seat is where i put my snacks (usually orange juice, biscuits and chichirya). my "aircon" is actually a small deskfan which i would also put inside my car. i would tie the flashlight on the ceiling of my car for my light. then, i'm ready to drive around my imaginary world. i wish life is as easy as it used to be. anyone wanna come ride with me?
